  Anniversary- Carter, Allen and Leanna Allen and Leanna Carter, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary as guests of honor at a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. July 14 at Central United Methodist Church at 1501 Massachusetts, Lawrence. Hosts will be their children, Diana and Don Owens and Christine and Edward McKelvey, all of Lawrence; Mrs. Carter’s mother, Lydia Strimple, Rossville Mrs. Carter’s brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Maxine Strimple, Kansas City, Kan.; and family friend Jane Barthurst, Richmond, Va. The couple has one grandchild and two great-grandchildren. Allen C. Carter and Leanna Strimple were married July 14, 1946, in the chapel at Winter General Hospital in Topeka with the Rev. Robert A. Preston, chaplain, officiating. Mrs. Carter served in Africa and Europe with the 87th Division, 346th Infantry, of the U.S. Army during World War II. He retire4d from the University of Kansas as a power house engineer and also had worked as a power house engineer at Topeka State Hospital and Kansas Neurological Institute.
