    Brown-Rulon marriage solemnized December 16

Janice Kay Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph L. Brown, became the bride of Philip R. Rulon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne M. Rulon, December 16.

The 2 p.m. service was read by Dr. Robert Crothers in the First Presbyterian Church. Richard Gayhart, organist, and Mrs. Robert Slemmons, Soloist, provided the wedding music.

The bride’s ballerina length dress was of imported French lace and nylon tulle over satin. The lace bodice was designed with long sleeves, Mandarin collar and sheer yoke of marquisette embroidered in tiny scallops. A deep lace peplum fell in handkerchief points over the bouffant tulle skirt. Her fingertip length veil was held by a crown of seed pearls and she carried a cascade of red Happiness roses.

Sandra Brown was her sister’s maid of honor. Bridesmaid and brides matron were Margaret Love and Mrs. Eldon Pinick.

They wore red peau de sole dresses designed with bateau necklines, bell skirts and three-quarter length sleeves. They carried white muffs and wore white headpieces trimmed with holly.

Shelly McClain, Rossville, was flower girl. Her dress was similar to those worn by the bride’s attendants. Billy Hutchinson was ring bearer and Larry Brown, brother of the bride, and Steve Patterson lighted the candles.

Carl Shore, Wichita, was best man and groomsmen were Curt Rulon and Gary Rulon, brothers of the bridegroom. Ushers were Bernard Fleming, Wichita, Ralph Hartner, Richard Hutchens, Jim Coe and Paul Johanning.

A reception in the church parlor followed the ceremony. Those assisting were Mrs. Watler Davis, Mrs. Louis Howard, Mrs. Jack Patterson, Mrs. A.B. Woody, Mrs. Paul Johanning, Mrs. Clarence Hutchinson, Mrs. Fred Haeutter, Sandra Whittet, Ann Underwood, Lea Ott and Marlene Peterson.

Mrs. Rulon is a graduate of Rossville High School and is employed by the State Department of Administration.

Mr. Rulon is employed by the freight claim department of the Santa Fe.
