The Rev. Ed Hays officiated at the 1 p.m. ceremony. The couple’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph S. Frederick, Rossville, and Mr. and Mrs. George M. Hamon, Loveland, Colo. The bride wore a satin and lace gown designed with long sleeves and a train. A pearl crown held her veil. She carried a bouquet of sweetheart roses in the form of a cross. Benita Wollen was maid of honor. Also attending the bride were Mr. Hamon’s sister, Mrs. Harold Krug, Ft. Collins, Colo., and Mrs. Joyce Frederick. Mr. Hamon’s brother, John Hamon, Thornton, Colo., was best man. Groomsmen were the bride’s brother, Joe Frederick , Jr., and Darrell Justice, Arrington. Ushers were Max Garbe, Valley Falls, and Roy Frederick, Shawnee Mission. Following a reception in the Holton 4-H building the couple left on a wedding trip to the Black Hills and Colorado. Mrs. Hamon is a graduate of Delia Rural High School and is employed by Hallmark Cards Inc. Mr. Hamon was graduated from Holton High School and is employed by the State Board of Agriculture. The couple is at home at 921 Lane St.

Hamon, age 78, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Lexington Park Health & Rehab in Topeka. She was born the daughter of Joseph S. and Marie Helen (Hladky) Frederick on December 26, 1943, in Rossville, KS. Marie attended a one room schoolhouse in rural Jackson County and graduated from Delia Rural High School. Marie married George Henry Hamon, Jr., on September 20, 1969, in Holton, KS. Together, they shared 53 years of marriage. She was a long-time member of Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church. Marie had a special talent when it came to crafts. She always willing to create and share her knowledge and talent with anyone. When she was not busy spending time with her family, Marie enjoyed playing computer games and bingo. She loved to bake especially during the holiday season. She worked for Hallmark and retired as a food service worker for USD 501. Survivors include her beloved husband, George Henry Hamon, Jr.; three daughters, Tammy L. Clark (James), Anita M. Hamon (Dennis Braddy), and Sue A. Kollhoff (John). Other survivors include her five cherished grandchildren and two siblings, Joseph Frederick and Iona Frederick. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Donald Frederick. Marie will lie in state on Monday, November 14, 2022, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M., with a rosary at 5:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., on Tuesday, November 15, at Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka. Memorial contributions can be made in Marie's loving memory to Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
