| Anniversary- Besta, Albert and Agnes Albert Bestas Married 40 Years
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Besta of Wamego celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary at the TradeWinds Cafe in Wamego Saturday night with their relatives and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Besta are the parents of five children. All except their son, Averill Startup of Aspen, Colorado, were able to attend.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Besta, Wamego, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house Sunday, Feb. 1 in the Knights of Columbus Hall in Wamego.
Friends and relatives are invited to call between 2 and 4 p.m. The couple requests that no gifts be presented.
Hosts for the reception will be their children, Averill Startup, Glenwood Springs, Colo.; Mrs. Velma Colter and Mrs. Helen Richard, Topeka; Mrs. Marie Brazzle and Mrs. Phyllis Mays, Wamego.
Mr. and Mrs. Besta were married Feb. 6,1926 in Topeka and have lived in the Wamego community 40 years. They have 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

WAMEGO – Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Stewart Funeral Home here for Mrs. Phyllis Mays, 46, Wamego, who died Friday at a Topeka hospital. She had cancer and was ill several years.
She was born Jan. 19, 1936, at Rossville, the daughter of Albert and Agnes Reser Besta, and lived in the Wamego community all her life.
Mrs. Mays was a bakery manager for Dyers IGA at Wamego.
She married Norman E. Mays Aug. 26, 1961, at Wells Creek United Church of Christ, southeast of Wamego. He survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Schooler, Topeka; a son, Ronald Mays, of the home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Besta, Wamego; three sisters, Mrs. Velma Colter and Mrs. Helen Richard, both of Topeka, and Mrs. Marie Brazzle, Wamego; a brother, Averill Startup, Glenwood Springs, Colo.; and three grandsons.
Burial will be in Wamego City Cemetery. Mrs. Mays will lie in state from 1 to 7 p.m. today, when the casket will be closed at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Phyllis Mays memorial fund in care of the funeral home.
