Luther C. and Edith M. McClain, Rossville, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by taking a trip to the Carolina coast lines and Southern Gardens. After they returned home, a reception was held in their honor, on April 21, at the Rossville United Methodist Church during the fellowship time.
Reception hosts were their daughter, Shelley Braden, her husband Roger, grandsons Adam and Bruce Braden, Manhattan, and Brian Braden, Rossville. A family dinner was held afterwards at China Inn in Topeka.
Luther C. McClain and Edith M. Cerny were married April 16, 1952, in Las Vegas, NV.
Mr. McClain farmed for several years before he started the McClain Amoco business, the McClain Propane business, and two Auto Parts stores. He has been in business in Rossville for 50 years.
Mrs. McClain worked in the People's State Bank of Rossville before becoming a full-time homemaker.

ROSSVILLE- Luther C. "Buck" McClain, 88, of Rossville passed away, Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Rossville Healthcare and Rehab Center.
He was born April 30,1923 in Rossville, the son of Ray and Eva Trimble McClain. Luther graduated from Rossville High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in Japan for several months. After the war he returned to Rossville where he farmed for several years.
Mr. McClain was the Standard Oil Agent in the Rossville area. He later purchased the Standard Oil service station and started the McClain Propane business. He expanded his business by opening an Auto Parts store in both Rossville and St. Marys. Luther was an active member of the Rossville United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent. He was a past Charter Member of the Rossville Lions Club. Luther was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post No 31 of the American Legion in Rossville. He was a 65 year plus member of Lake Lodge No. 50, AF/AM at Silver Lake and a member of Loyal Chapter of the Eastern Star No. 176. Mr. McCain was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 555 in Topeka. He had served on the Rossville School Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Thornton, Ora and Vencille McClain and two sisters, Letha Reser and Barbara Grubaugh.
On April 16, 1952 he was united in marriage to Edith M. Cerny. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Shelly Braden and her husband Roger, Rossville; two sisters, Mazie Goodrel, Rossville and Nancy Preble, Mesa, AZ; three grandsons, Adam Braden and his wife Tandy, Olathe, Bruce Braden and his fiancee Valerie, Austin, TX, and Brian Braden, Rossville; two great grandchildren Jarek and Riley Braden, Olathe.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Rossville United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Rossville Cemetery. Mr. McClain will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:30 until 7:30 Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Church in Rossville.
