Death of Adam Gahm
Adam Gahm died at 4:00 Friday morning at his home, No. 8 West South Avenue, of complication of diseases. He was born in Ohio, February 15, 1854. He was married in Illinois in 1873, to Miss Mary Louise Steinhart, who died November 28, 1916. In 1887, Mr. and Mrs. Gahm came to Kansas and settled in Butler County. Mr. Gahm came to Emporia in April 1918 and April 17 he was married to Miss Adah Hubbard, who survives him. He is survived by seven children, Mrs. Maggie Clark, El Dorado; George Gahm, Overbrook; Andrew Nicholas Gahm, Valley Falls; Mrs. Mabel Kelly and Mrs. Nellie Dooley, both of Topeka; Charles Gahm of Little Sioux, Iowa, and Mrs. Mattie Varner, of Maple Hill. Mr. Gahm was in the shoe repairing business, and was in partnership with J.S. Jones, in the shoe shop north of Stout's Grocery. Mr. Gahm was a member of the Free Methodist Church. |
