  Obituary- Sutherland, Claude D. In Memory of Claude Duane Sutherland May 23,1923 - January 15, 2010 Claude Duane Sutherland, 86, went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2010. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas. There will be a visitation from 1- 2 p.m., preceding the service. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, LaCygne, Kansas. Claude was born May 23, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri to Grover and Ona Mae (Binney) Sutherland. The family moved to Aurora, Illinois where he spent most of his youth. Claude was an Army Veteran of VWVII, serving in the South Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the Christian Church and the Masonic Lodge. He was employed in the meat industry in sales and management for forty years. He leaves his wife, Donna Faye (Coffin) Sutherland; a daughter Joyce Basinger and her husband, Brian, and their children, Michelle and husband David DeCamp; Julee, Ryan, and Brianne; his son Mark Sutherland and wife, Karen, and their children Scott and Stephanie; a sister Maxine Strimple and husband, Clyde; and nieces Marcilyn, Jerri, and Cassie. Claude will be greatly missed and he loved his family unconditionally. The family suggests contributions to the Arthritis Foundation, 3400 Broadway, Suite 105, Kansas City, MO 64111.
