  Obituary- Searcy, Elberta Elberta "Bertie" Jean Viergever Searcy WILLARD- Elberta "Bertie" Jean Viergever Searcy, Willard, died Saturday, February 16,2008 at her home. She was born August 20, 1927 in Topeka, the daughter of Leonard and Celia Brentlinger Viergever and later adopted by Adrienne M. Beer. Mrs. Searcy worked for Southwestern Bell for 33 years in the Topeka and Wichita offices. After retiring from Southwestern Bell, she worked for five years as a clerk at McClain's Amoco Station in Rossville. She was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church. She married Carl R. Searcy on August 20, 1946. They had two children, a son Carl Dean Searcy who preceded her in death in 1972, and a daughter Cynthia. Survivors are her husband Carl of the home, a daughter, Cynthia S. Miller and husband John Lavin of Garland, TX; three granddaughters, Tonya Miller, Olathe, Tishelle Miller, Burbank, CA. and Tianna Spencer and husband Rashid Spencer and their children Noah Spencer and Marlee Spencer of Olathe. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at the Rossville United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Gardens in Topeka. Mrs. Searcy will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville United Methodist Church or to the Topeka Rescue Mission and sent in care of Piper Funeral Chapel, 419 Main, Rossville, Kansas 66533.
