Miss Mabel Bixby and Mr. Otto Patton, were married Saturday March 18, in Lawrence, Kansas by the Rev. Seth Slaughter. Mrs. Slaughter being the only witness.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Bixby and was born and grew to womanhood in Rossville.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Paton [sic Patton] and was born and raised in this community and is an industrious young man.
Mr. and Mrs. Bixby are at present making their home with her uncle W.H. Bixby and Mrs. Bixby, but in the near future will move to the Walter Patton cottage in the west part of town. |

Mr. and Mrs. Osto Patton announce the marriage of their daughter, Wanda Irene, to Pvt. Dennis Smith, Jr., son of Mr. Dennis Smith, which took place Sunday afternoon, November 19, at 2 at the home of the bride's parents. Rev. Troy Bess read the ceremony before a background of fall flowers.
Miss Elaine Jones provided the wedding music.
The bride wore a steel blue satin dress with a lace yoke, brown accessories, and a corsage of red rosebuds.
Miss Neva Smith, the bride's attendant, wore a tailored blue dress with black accessories, and a corsage of white rosebuds.
Pvt. Roy Stockwell was best man.
A reception was held following the ceremony. Assisting were Mrs. Edna Baker, Mrs. Virginia White, and Miss Mary Allen Addy.
The bride's mother wore a navy blue chiffon dress with matching accessories, and a corsage of yellow and white chrysanthemums.
Private Smith is at home on a 14-day leave and will be stationed in Seattle, Wash., for a limited time, awaiting orders for overseas duty.
Mrs. Smith will be at home at 1235 Kellam after Private Smith leaves.
Out-of-town guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Ray J. Bixby, Rossville, Mrs. Virginia White, Kansas City, Mo., Mr. Ray O'Donnell, Chicago, Ill.; and Pvt. Roy Stockwell, Oskaloosa.
