| Obituary- Lane, John G. John G. Lane, 83, of Elizabethtown, PA, formerly of Chambersburg, died on Thursday evening, November 19, 2015 at the Masonic Health Care Center in Elizabethtown. Born in Delia, KS, he was the son of the late John A. and Mary Agnes Dittoe Lane. He was the husband of Patricia Mark Lane for 57 years as of August 8.
An Episcopalian, John was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Mount Joy and a former member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Chambersburg where he served as Senior Warden. During the Korean War, he served for three years in the United States Army. Following active duty, he continued his enlistment with the Army Reserve for 30 years, retiring as Sergeant 1st Class. He was employed as a computer systems analyst by the United States Government at Letterkenny Army Depot prior to retiring in 1989.
John was extremely active in several Masonic organizations, including General James Chambers No. 801, F&AM in Chambersburg where he was Past Master of the Lodge. He was also Past Grand High Priest of the Holy Royal Arch Grand Chapter and Past Grand Royal Patron of the Order of Amaranth of Pennsylvania. He was also a member of the American Legion, Chambersburg Post No. 46 and a life member of the VFW, Charles Nitterhouse Post No. 1599, also in Chambersburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Mark D., husband of Michele Partridge-Lane, of Virginia Beach, VA; two grandchildren, Spencer and Morgan Lane; and a brother, Lawrence, husband of Virginia Lane, of Overland Park, KS. He was preceded in death by a son, John Robert Lane, one brother, and two sisters.
Friends are invited to attend Masonic and Amaranth services in the parish hall at Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 South Second Street, Chambersburg, PA on Monday, Nov 30 at 2 pm, followed by funeral services in the Sanctuary at 2:30 with the Reverend Richard Randall officiating. There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held on Dec 13 at 2 pm at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 209 South Market Street, Mount Joy, PA. |
