| Obituary- Brickey, Ruby GREAT BEND—Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend for Ruby M. Brickey, 81. She died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at a Rossville nursing home.
Mrs. Brickey was a sales clerk at Duckwalls from 1964 to 1969, at Self Service Drug from 1969 to 1984, and at the Family Pharmacy from 1984 to 1989 all in Great Bend.
She was born Jan. 3, 1922, in Stafford County, to Clyde and Jennie DeGarmo Stimatze. She moved to Great Bend from Zook in 1964 and then to Topeka in 1994.
Mrs. Brickey was a member of Zook Home Demonstration Unit, Zook United Methodist Women and Trinity United Methodist Church in Great Bend.
She married William “Bill” Brickey on Aug. 31, 1941, in Kinsley. He died Feb 26, 1989. Mrs. Brickey also was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Charla Ann Brickey, Benjamin Kyle Brickey and Andrew Jacob Brickey.
Survivors include two sons, Doug Brickey, Arkansas City, and Teddy Brickey, Grantville, a daughter, Linda Jo Pore, Topeka; two brothers, Len Stimatze, Byers and Truman “fat” Stimatze, Fort Dodge; two sisters, Lois Spencer and Opal Covey, both of Ulysses; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. at Bryant funeral Home in Great Bend. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery at Zook. Mrs. Brickey will lie in state at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
