| Obituary- Bailey, Herbert Herbert Milton Bailey was born in Washington, Maine, February 28, 1854 and passed away at Topeka, Kans., April 15, 1929, at the age of 75 years, 1 month, 17 days.
He was united in marriage to Jennie Linn Rader, September 8, 1875, at Beloit, Kans. To this union were born six sons and three daughters, Elmer and Herman of Havensville, Kan.; Roy of Foraker, Okla.: Ed of Toepka, Kan.; Arthur of Burr Oak, Kan., and Harland of Holton; Mrs. Myrtle Minner of Soldier, Kan.; Mrs. Lois Smith of El Centro, Calif., all were present at the funeral. Mabel Irene died in infancy. Mrs. Bailey departed this life September 25, 1918.
March 25, 1920, Mr. Bailey was united in marriage to Lusetta B. Coulson and resided in this city.
Mr. Bailey came to Kansas in 1871 and resided at Beloit, Kan., until 1881 when he moved to Jackson county. With the exception of a few years in Elk county, Kan., he has spent the remainder of his life in and near Holton. He united with the Methodist church in early manhood, remaining a faithful member until his death. He took an active part in the church and Sunday school held in the early days at Carmel school house and later was superintendent of the Liberty Sunday school for a number of years. The remaining 20 years of his life has been spent as a devout Christian worker with the Methodist church of this city.
Besides his immediate family he leaves to mourn his going one brother, Everett, of Moline, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. Carry Bland of Upland, Calif.; 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
