    Perry Meek Buried Yesterday

    Perry Meek died Tuesday morning after a short illness his death resulting from acute bronchitis and myocardial degeneration. Mr. Meek has not been in the best of health for several years. Mr. Meeks [sic] came to this vicinity in the early days of the township's history and with the exception of a number of years spent in Pottawatomie county, Okla., had continued his residence here.

    Perry Meek was born in Andrew county, Mo., April 18, 1850 and was aged 68 years, 6 months and 2 days at the time of his decease. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary J. Wykert, February 13, 1868 at to this union six children were born, three sons and three daughters, of whom one son and the daughters have preceded him to the grave. The surviving members of his family are the widow and two sons, Russell and Cyrus Meek, and five sisters.

    The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the cemetery conducted by the Rev. J.F. Shafer, of the Rossville M.E. church, and interment made in the Olive Branch cemetery.
