The Goodens had nine children, seven are still living. They have a number of grandchildren. Friends and relatives sent many congratulatory cards to the Goodens for their anniversary and extended best wishes. A lovely cake, baked by Manor cook Mary Fangman, was shared with all the residents. The employees of the Manor signed a large card and presented it to them. Cheryl's Plantation, St. Marys, gave the couple lovely flowers -- a gold carnation and daisy corsage for Mrs. Gooden and a gold carnation boutonniere for Mr. Gooden.
