| Obituary- Comstock, Samuel Samuel Comstock
Samuel Comstock was born Dec. 22, 1858, at Voorhiesville, N.Y. He passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roy Gilbert, May 29, 1933, at the age of 75 years, 5 months and 7 days.
Mr. Comstock came west in early life. In 1882 he came on to Cottonwood Falls, KS. Here he was married to Elizabeth Staples of Rich Hill, Mo., in 1886. Three children were born to this union, one of whom died in childhood; the other two, Wilbur, of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Mrs. Florence Gilbert of Rossville, survive him. Mrs. Comstrock passed away in 1894. In 1900 he married Lydia Staples, sister of his first wife. She departed this life in 1922. Besides the two children he is survived by six grandchildren; also a sister, Mrs. Angeline VanAuten, of Voorhiesville, N.Y.
About 1905 Mr. Comstock moved to a place near Topeka, and has lived in that vicinity since. He has made his home with Mrs. Gilbert since 1927.
Since early life he has been a member of the Methodist church, and has kept that faith with his Master. Poor health has prevented attendance at the means of grace, but his faith has been sustained by consistent and devoted living. He has been a noble father, and a notable example of the fine art of living, even thru several years of lingering illness.
Funeral services were held at the Peebler Funeral Home in North Topeka Thurs. morning, June 1, in charge of Rev. Horton of Rossville. The body was then taken to Cottonwood Falls for interment there with other members of his family.
CARD OF THANKS -- We sincerely thank all friends and neighbors for their helpfulness and sympathy in the long illness and death of our father. --Wilbur Comstock and Mrs. Roy Gilbert
Mr. William Comstock, of Cheyenne, Wyo., arrived in Rossville, Tuesday, called by the death of his father, Mr. Samuel Comstock, who died, Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roy Gilbert north of Rossville. --1 June 1933
