For James and Bess Conley
Mr. and Mrs. James L. Conley, rural Delia, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception to be given by their children and grandchildren on Sunday, July 26, from two until four in the afternoon at the Rossville United Methodist Church.
Hosting the occasion will be their son and his wife, Joe M. and Pauline Conley, Delia; their grandchildren, Patricia and Kenneth L. Martinek, Golden, Colo., James C. Conley and William J. Conley, Delia.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend. The couple requests that no gifts be presented.
Jim Conley and Bess Mercer were married at the home of the bride’s parents in Topeka on July 29, 1931. They have lived in the Rossville and Delia communities all of their married life. Mr. Conley was a farmer and stockman.

Mrs. Conley was a teacher at Rossville High School from 1926 to 1931 and High Prairie Grade School in Jackson County from 1952 to 1953.
She was born Nov. 13, 1902, in Chase County, the daughter of Jo¬seph H. and Ulamae Scribner Mer¬cer. She was graduated from Topeka High School and Washburn Universi¬ty-
Mrs. Conley was a member of Rossville United Methodist Church, Rossville Literary Club and was past president of Delia Extension Homemakers’ Unit. She also was a 50-year member, past district aide and past worthy matron of Amaryl¬lis Chapter No. 321 of Order of East¬ern Star at Rossville. Mrs. Conley J was active in the Rossville Rustlers 4-H Club.
She was married t$ James L. Con¬ley July 29, 1931, at Topeka. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, Joe M. Conley, Delia; three grandchild¬ren; and a great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rossville United Methodist Church in Rossville. Cre¬mation is planned. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at To¬peka. Verschelden Funeral Home at St. Marys is in charge of arrange-ments.
