    Obituary- Zimmerman, John
    John Zimmerman, 78, who died last week an old resident of Dover, was also a former resident of Rossville township. He was born in Switzerland, January 15, 1857 and came to the United States when he was three months old and his parents settled in Wisconsin. He came to Kansas from Illinois in 1877. He came to the plains as a cattle herder and then became camp cook. After a number of years residence in Rossville he moved to Dover where he made his home until his death.

    He was married October 19, 1882 to Ida Spicer. To this union were born nine children, Cora, Nora, Barbara, William, Henry, John, Alice, Samuel and Fred, all of whom survive. He also is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Amelia White, Manhattan, and Mrs. Martha Pemberton, Shawnee, Okla.; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Burial was in the Dover cemetery.
