    Obituary- Oliver, Elizabeth
    Obituary- Oliver, Elizabeth
    At Rest.
Once again the citizens of this community were called upon to mourn the death of one of their neighbors. On last Thursday evening, at 4 o'clock, Mrs. Elizabeth Oliver, after a short illness, gave up the struggle of life and passed to the great beyond. Being a thorough christian, the dark wave of death held no terror for her, but instead she was content to place her hand within that of her Savior and be led peacefully over the dark waters. The end came peacefully and painlessly, like a child dropping to sleep, and causes one to cray out "O, Death where is thy sting, O, Grave where is thy victory!"

Funeral services were held in the Baptist church, Sunday, Nov. 20, 1898, at 10 o'clock a.m., conducted by Rev. J.G. Maver, who was assisted by Rev. Caruthers and Dr. Fisher. The church was filled with sorrowing friends of the deceased. The remains were interred in the Rossville cemetery.

Only five of the children were at the funeral, viz. Sam, Tom and Simon Oliver, Mrs. Hattie Johnson and Mrs. Keigley; the other three- Cleo Oliver, Mrs. Alice Ely and Mrs. Ella Moore - being unable to be present.

Mrs. Elizabeth Oliver was born at Waynesburg, Penn., July 5th, 1831, and died at Rossville, Kas., Nov. 17th, 1898, aged 67 years, 4 months and 12 days. She was married on Sept. 26th, 1850, to Mr. S.J. Oliver, at Waynesburg, Penn. Twelve children blessed their union, eight of whom survive her. They moved to Rossville, Kas., in the year 1876, and have resided here ever since, being loved and respected by everyone. She united with the Baptist church at the age of 21 years.
