| Obituary- Zickefoose, Effie Mrs. S.W. Zickefoose Dead
Word was received yesterday (Monday) by Mrs. E.R. Haas, 419 Quincy Ave., of the death at Los Angeles of her mother, Mrs. Effie M. Zickefoose, widow of Sampson W. Zickefoose, formerly of the police department here and at one time chief of police of Wichita.
Mrs. Zickefoose left here a week ago Saturday to visit Mrs. Kate Smith, a sister, at Los Angeles and became ill on the train on the way to California. Death followed an operation for hernia at a Los Angeles hospital.
She is survived also by two sons, B.A. Zickefoose of Philadelphia and Harry Zickefoose, Dodge City, KS., and another sister, Mrs. J.W. Lowe of Holdenville, Ok., who accompanied her on the trip. Funeral services will be held here and burial probably will be in Rossville, Ks.

Funeral services for Mrs. S.W. Zickefoose, who died Saturday, Nov. 24, in a Los Angeles hospital following an operation, were held in the Rossville Presbyterian Church Monday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Apel. The body was interred in the Rossville cemetery by the side of her husband who passed away four years previous, lacking two hours of the same hour of his death four years ago. Mrs. Zickefoose was formerly Effie Lewis. She taught one term of school in the Cedar Bluff school northeast of town many years ago when her stepfather was pastor of the U.B. church. Several of her pupils were here for the funeral. Relatives here for the funeral were the three children, Benjamin Zickefoose, Philadelphia; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Zickefoose, Dodge City; Mr. ad Mrs. Elsworth Hass, Kansas City, the latter a daughter; and a number of old friends from Lecompton, her native town; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gustin, Delia; Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Zickefoose, Delia.
