Earl S. Cowen, 77, Rossville, died Friday, December 28, 1990, at Rossville Valley Manor.
He was born April 25, 1913, at Scranton, the son of Orval and Eva Harris Cowen.
Mr. Cowen had lived in Topeka from 1945 to 1984, when he moved to Rossville. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the New Guinea Campaign and the Asiatic Pacific Theater.
He had worked for the Topeka City Refuse Department for 17 years before retiring in December, 1977.
Mr. Cowen was married to Ruth May Barker on November 10, 1943, at Harrison, Ark. She sur¬vives.
Other survivors include a daugh¬ter, Mrs. Shirley Ann Driscoll, Rossville; a son, Michael D. Cowen, Topeka; a brother, Amps Cowen, Topeka; seven grandchil¬dren; and one great-grandson.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, December 31, at Parker- Price Mortuary, Topeka, with the Rev. Robert Sieh officiating.
Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.

ROSSVILLE — Earl S. Cowen, 77, Rossville, died Friday, Dec. 28, 1990, at a Rossville nursing home.
He worked 17 years for the Topeka City Refuse Department before he re¬tired in 1977. He was an Army veter¬an of World War II.
Mr. Cowen was born April 25, 1913, at Scranton, the son of Orval and Eva Harris Cowen. He lived in Topeka from 1945 until 1984 when he moved to Rossville.
He was married to Ruth May Barker on Nov. 10, 1943, at Harrison, Ark. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Shirley Ann Driscoll, Rossville; a son, Michael D. Cowen, Topeka; a broth¬er, Amos Cowen, Topeka; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Cowen will lie in state after 1 p.m. today at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville Rescue Squad, Fire District No. 3, Rossville, 66533.
