| Obituary- Cowger, Jesse Jesse E. Cowger
HOLTON — Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Mercer funeral Home here for Jesse E. Cowger, 68, rural Sol¬dier, who died Thursday at a Topeka acute care nursing facility where he had been a week. He had been trans¬ferred there from a Topeka hospital where he was admitted March 4. He had cancer.
He was born Dec. 3, 1908, in Delia. He lived at Delia and Holton before moving to Soldier, where he lived 32 years.
He was a farmer and stockman. He was a member of Bucks Grove United Methodist Church, west of Holton, and a charter member of Soldier Lions Club, Soldier.
He married Henrietta VanValkenbergh on Sept. 22, 1934, in Hiawatha. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mary L. Eby, Arcanum, Ohio; two sons, Marvin Cowger, 413 Green, Tope¬ka, and Melvin Cowger, 2719 Kentucky, Topeka; two brothers, Arch Cowger, Soldier, and LeRoy Mayo, Filer, Idaho; a sister, Mrs. Beulah Wykert, Soldier; and six grandchildren.
Burial will be in Olive Hill Cemetery, west of Holton. Mr. Cowger will lie in state from 8 p.m. today until services at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bucks Grove United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Socie¬ty and sent in care of Denison State Bank, Holton.
