OLATHE — George Eugene Eakin, 63, Olathe, formerly of Delia, died here Sunday, April 11, 1999, at a hospital where he was admitted Sat¬urday. He had pneumonia.
He was born Nov. 3, 1935, in Delia, to Dale and Catherine McNieve Eakin. He spent his early life in Delia and graduated from Delia High School in 1954. He owned and operated George Eakin Sheet Metal Co. in Stilwell for 35 years. He spent many years in Stilwell before he moved to Bucyrus five years ago. He later moved to Olathe.
He and Virginia Brown were married June 18, 1955, in Blue Springs, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Janice Dodson, St. Thomas, Mo., and Charemon Mar¬low, Versailles, Mo.; a brother, Dale A. Eakin, Topeka; sisters, Clara Ann Brooks, Glendale, Ariz., and Mary Etta Rose, Phoenix; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednes¬day at St. Columbine Cemetery in Edgerton.
Contributions may be made to the George Eakin Memorial Fund yet to be designated and sent in care of Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner.
