Virginia L. Elkins, 85, Tillamook, Ore., died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, in Tillamook.
The was born June 11, 1913, in Hartford, Ks., the daughter of Robert and Alma Tomlinson Bivens.
She grew up and attended school in Missouri. She met Marion Elkins in Rossville, and was married to him in 1948, in Topeka. They raised a family in Kansas prior to moving to Forest Grove, Ore. in 1963.
She worked for the Forest Grove Grade School as a cook. After their retirement, she and her husband moved to Tillamook in 1976, where they managed Fisherman’s Park on the Wilson River for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Marion (a brother of Helen Thompson and Francis Davis, Rossville, and Joe Davis, St. Marys); two sons, Marion C. Elkins, Cornelius, Ore., and Michael T. Elkins, Alona, Ore.; three daughters, Anna Mae Taylor, Tillamook, Ruby Poteets, and P. Laverne Reding of Horse Shoe Bend, Ark.; a brother, Marvin L. Bivens, Brookfield, Mo.; two sisters, Carrie Frock, Brookfield, Mo. and Edna Ryland, Las Vegas, Nev.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
There were no funeral services. Waud’s Funeral Home and Crematory, Tillamook, Ore., was in charge of arrangements.
