John Edward Failer Jr., 63, 4815 Topeka Ave., died Monday, March 11, at his home.
Mr. Failer was a roofer. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was born Aug. 15, 1921, at Rossville, the son of John Edward and Jessie Belle Gibbs Failer. He lived in the Rossville and Willard communities before he moved to Topeka in 1979.
Mr. Failer was a former member of Jimmy Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion in Rossville.
He was married to Frances I. Brayman June 28, 1940, at Holton. She survives. An infant son, William Failer, died in 1943 and a daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Adams, died in 1968.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Maus, Emmett; four sons, John Failer, 4815 Topeka Ave., Dale Failer, 212 Sanneman Drive, Richard Failer, 2431 Minnesota, and James Failer. Delia:., six sisters, Mrs. Mary Streeter, Winfield, Mrs. Leona Grange, 1811 E. 25th, Mrs. Flora Martin, 1517 N. Quincy, Mrs. Essie Sterling, Hays, Mrs. Rosa Lewis, 2113 Seabrook, and Mrs. Margaret L. Heston, 2738 E. 21st; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home. Military graveside services will be conducted by Jimmy Lillard Post No. 31 in Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Failer will lie in state after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
