  Obituary- Gittings, Polly Polly Rachel Gittings, daughter of P.A. and Mary Sebring, was born in Sebringville, Canada, October 7, 1861, died April 11, 1929, aged 67 years, 6 months and 4 days. She was united in marriage Feb. 9, 1882, to Henry Clinton Gittings, at Warn ego, Kansas. They made their home on a farm near Wamego until 1901, at which time they moved to Alma, Kansas. In 1908 they moved back to Wamego, where Mr. Gittings died January 13, 1917. Mrs. Gittings was united with the Methodist church in Wamego in 1878 and at the time of passing to her eternal reward had a record of 50 years in her mission here on earth— which was to know, love and serve the Lord. Polly Gittings exemplified the car¬dinal virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity in every thought and action of her well-spent life. Her’s was a life of service—to God and to her fellow human beings. She accepted trials and tribulations in the spirit of God’s holy will and none ever heard her complain against the part she had to bear. Her example and influence will pattern the efforts of all who came in contact with her, so that they, too, may attain the end for which they have been created. Just six weeks ago she helped with loving care to lay her sister, Mrs. James Banks to rest in peace. She is survived by three daughters Mrs. Tom Leonard, Enid, Okla.; Mrs. Ted Fields, Rossville, Kansas; Mrs.; LeRoy Johnson, Seneca, Kansas; five grandchildren, Mrs. B. Honeycutt, Los Angeles, Calif.; Hugh and Loretta Leonard, Enid Okla.; Bobbie and Harold Johnson, Seneca, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. Alice Jacobs, Wamego. Mrs. Lucinda Breymeyer preceded her to the Great Unknown April 15, 1902 and Mrs. Jas. Banks, March 1, 1929. Four brothers remain, John Sebring, Lake Side, Wash.; David Sebring, Wamego; A1 Sebring, Palo Alto, Calif.; and Melvin Sebring, McFarland, Kansas. A short funeral service was held at the home of her daughter, Myrtle Johnson, Seneca, Kans., on Friday, April 12, conducted by Rev. L. B. Pruitt, and the remains were then brought to the home of Mr. James Banks in Wamego. The final services were held in the Wamego Methodist church conducted by the pastor, Rev. Westerman, assisted by Rev Pruitt, of Seneca. She was laid to rest beside her husband in the family lot in the Wamego cemetery, Saturday, April 13. The following friends from Rossville were in Wamego for the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Witter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Page, Mrs. I.B. Wilt, Miss Blanche Parr, Mrs. Frank Zook, Mrs. Fred Mason, Mrs. David Davis, Mr. Sherman James. Word came this morning about 9 o’clock of the death of Mrs. Polly Gittings at the home of a daughter in Seneca, Kansas. Mrs. Gittings is the mother of Mrs. Ted Fields. Mr. and Mrs, Fields left immediately for Seneca. No details were received of the cause of death but it was totally unexpected. Burial probably will be at Wamego.
