| Obituary- Graham, Monita 2 Took Life of Her Baby
Mrs. Ray Graham, took the life of her 18-months-old baby and then attempted suicide last Saturday afternoon, at her home a few miles southwest of Delia, by using carbolic acid. The baby was dead and Mrs. Graham in serious condition when found by her husband and his father, F. M. Graham.
Mrs. Graham and her husband had been fussing some, it is said, and he left his family a few days previous. Little Belle Henry, who had been staying with the young Mrs. Graham, told F. M. Graham, she was afraid the young mother would kill herself and the baby because of repeated threats to do so, and told of hiding the poison once Mr. Graham went to Delia Saturday afternoon and took the son out to his wife hoping to patch up the trouble. But they arrived too late. Mrs. Graham was found in the yard, lying on the ground, able to talk only incoherently. The baby was dead.
Emergency treatment was given at Delia and the young woman was soon out of danger.
At the coroner’s inquest Saturday night the jury decided the mother was insane when she committed the murder of her child.
Mrs. Graham was formerly Mabel Moses, daughter of A1 Moses of Maple Hill. She attended the Rossville schools until shortly before her marriage.
She expressed no regret over the death of her baby, when questioned by the coroner, saying she was sorry because she hadn’t finished herself.
