Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church for Mathew Len Gustafson, 14, son of David and Shirley Gustafson, rural Topeka, who died Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997, at a Topeka hospital where he was admitted late Dec. 21. He had a lung ailment.
He was born May 15, 1983, in Topeka, the son of David B. and Shirley M. Dick Gustafson. He attended Sumner Elementary School and Rossville Grade School and currently was a freshman at Rossville High School.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville and a former member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Topeka. He was a member of the Rossville Rustlers 4-H Club. He was a recipient of a Disney World trip from the Make-A-Wish Foundation in October.
Other survivors include a brother, Mark Gustafson, at home; a sister, Michelle Gustafson, at home; and grandparents, George and Lorraine Gustafson, Topeka, and Leonard and Dorothy Dick, Great Bend.
Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
