| Obituary- Harden, Orval Orval W. “ Lefty” Harden
Orval W. “ Lefty” Harden met his Lord on Fri. August 10, 2007 at the age of 83. He was born to Orval H. and Goldie Lister Harden on July 24, 1924 near Auburn, KS the fourth of eight children.
Orval was raised in the Auburn/Rossville/Dover and St. Mary’s area. He joined the Army July 9, 1943 serving in Tank Batillion 786 and was wounded in Germany on March 4, 1945 and discharged December 8, 1945.
He was employed by Armco Steel and USD 330. He retired from O Ed Marling’s Furniture. He lived on a farm in the Keene/Dover area and Flush, KS before returning to Topeka.
He attended Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Black Jack Post #260 at Saint George.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Mary Bluthafdt Harden and three daughters, Nancy and Robert Hartman, Sharon and Ron Scott, and Peggy Cox, all of Topeka; along with six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; brother, Wilbur Harden, South Carolina; sisters, Lola Patton, Poulsbo, WA and Marcella Wunder, Topeka. Preceding him in death along with his parents were brothers, Homer Colter, Ova Harden, Bob Harden and a sister, Loretta Murray.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Rd., Topeka, KS 66614 where a rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m.
Graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Flush, KS.
Memorial contributions may be made in Orval’s name for a contribution to be designated at a later date, sent in care of the funeral home.
