| Anniversary- Hartzell, David and Matilda 1 CELEBRATE FIFTY-EIGHTH
WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. David Hartzell were given a surprise Tuesday evening by their children and grand children who went in, to help them celebrate their fifty-eighth wedding anniversary. Ice cream and cake and coffee were served.
Mr. and Mrs. Hartzell were married at Rossville, February 21, 1875 by the Methodist minister of Rossville.
Mr. Hartzell came to Rossville in 1868, and in 1872 opened a drug store and continued in that business until 1927 when he retired on account of ill health.
Mrs. Hartzell who before her marriage was Miss Matilda Boots came from Penn Yan, New York, in 1872, with her father, the late B. F. Boots and her brother M. J. Boots.
They are the parents of five children, all of whom are living. Ernest D. Hartzell, L. P. Hartzell of Rossville; Mrs. Edna Salley of Silver Lake; Frank D. Hartzell of Chillicothe, Ill., and Melvin B. Hartzell of Seattle, Washington. There are twenty-two grand children and five great grand children.
The Reporter desires to express the sentiment of Rossville and community in extending heartiest congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Hartzell upon the completion of their fifty-eight years of married life.
“Daddy and Grandma” Hartzell are still enjoying an active life and comparatively good health.

Mr. and Mrs. David Hartzell will observe the 61st anniversary of their wedding Friday of this week February 21. Both are sick and confined to their house at present, but slowly improving. Their many friends extend congratulations on this eventful anniversary. |

| Obituary- Hartzell, Leroy 1 L.P. HARTZELL DIES AT HOME
Services were Tuesday afternoon in the Rossville Methodist Church for LeRoy Philip Hartzell, 84, a lifetime resident of Rossville. He died Saturday morning at his home east of Rossville.
A farmer in the Rossville community all his life, Mr. Hartzell was born Feb. 3, 1879 in Rossville. He was a member of Rossville Methodist Church.
His daughter, Gertrude, died in 1940. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Grace Hartzell of the home; two sons, Philip Hartzell of Rossville and Richard Hartzell, Los Angeles; two brothers, Frank Hartzell, Chillicothe, Mo., and Melvin Hartzell, Spokane, Washington; a sister, Mrs. Walter Salley, Silver Lake; and two grandchildren.
Burial was in Rossville cemetery. Pallbearers were his neighbors, Harry Moyer, Ralph Page, Forrest Parker, U. R. Zeller, Bill Gentry and Homer Reid. Parker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

ROSSVILLE - LeRoy Philip Hartzell, lifetime Rossville resident, died Saturday morning at his home here. He was 84.
He was born Feb. 3, 1879 in Rossville, and had farmed there all his life. He was a member of Rossville Methodist Church.
Mr. Hartzell was preceded in death by a daughter, Gertrude, in 1940.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Grace Hartzell of the home; two sons, Philip Hartzell of Rossville, and Richard Hartzell of Los Angeles; two brother, Frank Hartzell of Chillicothe, Mo., and Melvin Hartzell of Spokane, Wash.; one sister, Mrs. Walter Salley of Silver Lake, and two grandchildren.
Parker Mortuary will announce arrangements.
