| Obituary- Higginbotham, Mary Mrs. C.W. Higginbotham
Mary Howard was born in South Shaftsbury, Bennington County, Vermont, June 9, 1850, the youngest of ten children. She was married to Cyrus W. Higginbotham in October, 1871, and spent her married life in the home to which she came as a bride. To this union were born six children, three of whom survive her. She passed away on March 3, 1919, at the age of 68 years.
She was a member of the Presbyterian church and led a beautiful Christian life. She was a faithful and devoted wife, a loving and sacrificing mother, A true friend. All who knew her, loved her.
She was a woman of strong faith, forgiving and charitable to all. One of her mottos was: "If you can't say something good of a person do not say anything." Her desire was to minister rather than to be ministered unto. Many who have lived under her roof, as well as all others, who came to know her well, may remember her sweet, kindly manner and know that she was indeed a true friend. The beneficial influence of the life of this pure good woman who lived so quietly and unobtrusively among us, is perhaps far greater than she ever dreamed it would be.
She leaves a husband and three children, Edith I., George A., of Rossville and Cyrus H., of Denton, Montana; one sister, Mrs. J.K. Conley, and many friends to mourn her departure. |
