Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bixby announce the engagement of their daughter, Betty Mae, to Eric Hinterweger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Omar [sic Omer] Van Vleck.
Miss Bixby is a 1958 graduate of Rossville High School. She is employed at Hallmark Cards Inc. in Topeka.
Mr. Hinterweger is a 1956 graduate of Public High School in Ulmerfeld, Austria. He is employed at Van Vleck Oil Co. in Rossville. Mr. Hinterweger came to the United States in June of 1958.

Eric and Betty Hinterweger, Rossville, will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary with a reception at the Rossville Community Center Sunday, November 19, starting at 1 pan. Eric Hinterweger and Betty Bixby were married November 26,1960, at St. Stanislaus Church in Rossville.
The couple’s children are Jim and Jan Hinterweger, Mike Hinterweger, Danny Hinterweger and Kasey and Cindy Priddy.

Eric H. Hinterweger 58, Rossville, died Tuesday, December 15, 1998, at Rossville Valley Manor.
He was born February 11, 1940, in Ulmerfeld-Hausmening, Austria, the son of Michael and Anna Fiala Hinterweger.
He grew up in Ulmerfeld-Hausmening, Austria. He moved to the United States and Rossville community in 1958. He was an Electronics Project Engineer in the Technical Research and Development Department for Santa Fe Railroad for many years. He retired in 1998 for health reasons. He earlier owned and operated Eric’s Radio and T.V. Repair, and Rehm Electric, both in Rossville. He had also worked for VanVleck Oil Company in Rossville.
He was a member of the Kaw Valley Amateur Radio Club, and a licensed amateur radio operator for over 30 years, using call letters WAOKIK and WQOY. He had been active in the Air Force Military Affiliate Radio Service, and also Shawnee County Emergency Management.
On November 26, 1960, he was married to Betty Bixby at Rossville. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Jim Hinterweger, New Strawn, Mike Hinterweger, Silver Lake, and Danny Hinterweger, Topeka; one daughter, Cindy Priddy, Silver Lake; his stepfather and mother, Omer and Anna Van Vleck, Rossville; a stepsister, Sharon Landreth, Junction City; a stepbrother, Omer Lee Van Vleck, Rossville; and seven grandchildren.
A prayer service, followed by a rosary was at 7 p.m. Thursday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville. Burial was in the Rossville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eric Hinterweger Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.

My dad will be greatly missed by our family. Not a day will go by that he won’t be thought of as a loving son, husband, dad and grandpa. He will live on forever in our hearts and in our wonderful memories.
