Golden Wedding Celebration Set
Mr. and Mrs. Vern Hoobler of Maple Hill will observe their Golden Wedding Anniversary with open house Sunday, June 9, at the Methodist Church Hall, St. Marys.
No invitations are being issued, but friends and relatives are asked to call at the hall between 3 and 5 p.m. The couple request no gifts. A family dinner will be served at noon at the church for the immediate family.
Mr. and Mrs. Hoobier were married June 4, 1913 at Topeka. They have nine children, 8 sons and one daughter and 29 grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Hoobler have lived in the Turkey Creek community in Wabaunsee county most of their lives with the exception of living in Rossville from 1944 to 1949.

| Obituary- Hoobler, Harold Harold V. Hoobler
MAPLE HILL — Harold V. Hoobler, 84, Maple Hill, died Thursday, May 21, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Hoobler was a tool and die maker at Allis-Chalmers, Inc. in Topeka for 14 years before he retired. He earlier had been a field manager for Jones Dehydrator and a welder for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita. He also drove a fuel truck for the Maple Hill Coop.
He was born March 26, 1914, at Madison, the son of Vernon P. and Myrtle Rake Hoobler. He was graduated from Maple Hill High School, and he lived most his life in Maple Hill.
Mr. Hoobler was a member of the Maple Hill Community Congregational Church and Alma Lodge No. 161 AF&AM. He had served on the School Board and the City Council in Maple Hill.
He was married to Irene V. Leeper on Sept. 17, 1938, in Topeka. She died Sept. 6, 1994. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lee Hoobler, on Jan. 6, 1991.
Survivors include five sons, William P. Hoobler, Wichita, Kenneth E. Hoobler, St. Marys, Norris A. Hoobler, Topeka, and Horace B. Hoobler and Sidney D. Hoobler, both of Maple Hill; a sister, Mildred Ronsse, St. Marys; five brothers, Lloyd Hoobler and Everett Hoobler, both of St. Marys, Dwight Hoobler, Rossville, Forrest Hoobler, Auburn, and Lester "Arland" Hoobler, Seattle; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Maple Hill Community Congregational Church. Burial will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery. Mr. Hoobler will lie in state after 4 p.m. Monday at the Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home at St. Marys where relatives and friends will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Maple Hill Community Congregational Church and sent in care of the funeral home.
