EMMETT — Richard W. Heller, 19, Emmett, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 19937 at his home.
Mr. Heller was a cabinet maker at Custom Wood Products in St. Marys.
He was born July 10, 1973, at Abilene, the son of Michael D. and Dixie L. Cook Heller. He moved from Abilene to Topeka in 1982, then to Emmett in 1985.
He graduated from St. Marys High School in 1991, where he lettered in football four years and lettered in baseball and golf. He wrestled three years and was State Class 3A Champion his junior year. He also served on the Student Council, played in the band three years, was active in Future Farmers of America and was homecoming king his senior year.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Michael and Sylvia Heller, Topeka; his stepfather and mother, Ron and Dixie King, Emmett; four sisters, Rita Kokenge, Emmett, Lisa Pence, Rossville, and Jennifer Brown and Tiffany Kuhlman, both of Colorado Springs; a brother, Chris Heller, Little Creek, Va.; grandparents, Wayne and Shirley Heller, Abilene, Richard and Iva May Cook, Hope, Don and Leona Pabst, Manhattan, Marvin and Maxine King, Liverpool, Texas, and Harvey and Lucille Walz, St. Francis; and great-grandmothers, Florence Allen and May Cook, both of Abilene.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in St. Marys High School. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery at St. Marys. Mr. Heller will lie in state after 10 a.m. Saturday at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. The casket will be closed at the high school. Contributions may be made to the Richard Heller Memorial Fund to be designated at a later time by relatives and left with the funeral home.
