Mr. and Mrs. Harold Irwin, Rossville, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at the Rossville United Methodist Church from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 9. Their daughter, Sharon Fannin, will host the reception. Their son. Gene Irwin, lives in Tucson, Ariz.
Harold Irwin and Mildred Newman were married on June 5, 1941, in Valley Falls. They have seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Irwin is shown wearing the dress in which she was married.

Harold O. Irwin, 93, of Alma, formerly of Rossville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at the Alma Manor. He was born Aug. 30,1919, in Jefferson County, the son of the late Wm. B. and Alice Ertel Irwin. Mr. Irwin had lived in Rossville most of his life and had been an auto mechanic, welder and owned Harold’s Machine Shop in Topeka. He was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church.
He was married to Mildred P. Newman on June 5, 1941. She preceded him in death on May 7, 1997. Harold was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cathy Sue, a son, Harold E. “Gene” Irwin, a brother and two sisters. On Feb. 14,2001, he was united in marriage to Twila Corbin. Survivors include his wife, Twila, of the home; a daughter, Sharon Kay Fannin and husband Steve; a brother, Wm. E. Irwin and wife Mary; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Oct. 8 at Rossville United Methodist Church. Interment was in the Rossville Cemetery.

Mr. Irwin will lie in state an hour before service time on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice and sent in care of Piper Funeral Chapel, P.O.
