Robert and Marcella Hertlein of Topeka will observe their 50th wedding anniversary Wednesday.
They were honored with a family dinner Saturday hosted by their children, Mike Hertlein, Delia; Ron and Julie Hertlein, Eskridge; Rich and Norma Hertlein, Dave Hertlein, and Darryl and Coleen Coker, all of Topeka.
They have 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Robert Hertlein and Marcella Hafner were married June 4, 1947, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Topeka.
Mr. Hertlein is retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. Mrs. Hertlein is a file clerk for the Kansas Legislature.

| Obituary- Hertlein, Robert Robert P. Hertlein
Robert P. Hertlein, 72, Topeka, died Friday, Nov. 28, 1997, at a Topeka hospital. Mr. Hertlein built earth-mover tires for 38 years at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. before he retired in 1982. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was born Oct. 6, 1925, in Topeka, the son of John Hertlein and Christina Mauer Hertlein.
Mr. Hertlein was a member of St. Joseph Church and United Steel Workers of America. He was married to Marcella Hafner on June 4, 1947, in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors' include four sons, Michael Hertlein, Delia; Ronald Hertlein, Eskridge; and Richard Hertlein and David Hertlein, both of Topeka; a daughter, Coleen Coker, Topeka; a brother, Leonard Hertlein, Topeka; a sister, Lilly Esser, Topeka; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Hertlein will lie in state after 2 p.m. Monday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.
