| Obituary- Kovar, John 1 JOHN KOVAR
John Kovar was born in Moravia, Czechoslovakia, February 2, 1872, and passed to his reward at his home 4 1-2 miles east of Delia, Friday, January 28, 1944, aged 71 years, 11 months and 26 days.
He came to the United States when 2 years old with his parents, Paul and Veronica Kovar. They first came to Topeka and later settled on a farm on Cross Creek 6 miles north of Rossville, in 1874.
In his earlier days he joined the Presbyterian Church in Rossville.
He was united in marriage to Anna Balusek on September 11, 1895. To this union were born five children, all of whom survive with the widow.
They are Peter Kovar, Rossville; Charley Kovar, Delia; Mrs. Frances Matyak of Delia; Mrs. Rosie Koci, Auburn, Kans.; and Mrs. Mollie Mitchell of Oxnard, Calif; three ‘brothers, Paul, Joseph and William Kovar, Rossville; one sister, Mrs. Anna Scasta, Bryan, Texas; seventeen grandchidlren; one great-grandchild and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held in the Delia Presbyterian Church, Monday afternoon, January 31st, with the Rev. N. P. Olney officiating.
The pallbearers were Messrs. Joe Badura, John Kratina, Frank Stach, Ignace Korak, Paul Matyak and Phil Bahner.
Burial was in the Czech-Moravian Cemetery.
