| Obituary- Kratina, John 1 JOHN KRATINA
Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Rossville Presbyterian Church for John R. Kratina, 81, Rossville, who died Wednesday, June 16, 1976 at a Topeka hospital.
He was born July 5, 1894 in Rossville, where he spent all of his life.
He was a farmer before he retired and worked at the dehydrating plant in Rossville from 1947 until 1960. He was a medical supervisor in a field hospital near Tours, France during World War I.
He was a member of the Rossville Presbyterian Church, Lodge No. 128 Moravan, Western Bohemian Fraternal Association, a 50-year member of the Jimmy Lillard Post No. 31, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and an active member of the Czech-Moravian Cemetery Committee, all at Rossville. He served on the grade school board of Victor No. 101, from 1940 until 1948.
He was married to Helen Hruska in 1932, in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, John D. Kratina, Rossville, and George F. Kratina, Silver Lake; a daughter, Sister Mary Kratina, Rossville; a brother Frank E. Kratina, Topeka, a sister, Mrs. Tessie Uhl, Grantville; and three grandchildren.
Bible vigil services were at 8 p.m. Friday at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Military graveside services conducted by the Jimmy Lillard Post No. 31 were after funeral services Saturday at Czech-Moravian Cemetery, north of Rossville. Casket bearers were Frank Cerney, Ben Stach, Bennie Martinek, Emil Martinek, Ernest Kratina, Sr., Ernest Kratina, Jr., Gerald Uhl and William Olejnik.
Memorial contributions may be made to Rossville Presbyterian Church for Christian education purposes.
