Mr. and Mrs. Glen Marney, Rossville, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary March 31 quietly in their home. No open house is planned.
A family dinner will be given Sunday, March 30 at China Inn.
Their children are Mr. and Mrs. Dean Marney, Kansas City; Mr. and Mrs. Laiten Marney, Great Falls, Mont.; Mr. and Mrs. Tim Dale, Omaha; and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Marney. There are 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Marney have lived in Rossville all of their married lives. Mr. Marney is a retired Santa Fe employee.

St. Andrews Catholic Church, in Tecumseh, Nebraska, was the setting Saturday morning, April 2, for the wedding of Miss Nancy Catherine Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph V. Johnson Sr. of Tecumseh, Nebraska, and Staff Sergeant Dean Marney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Marney of Rossville.
The ceremony was performed by the Father James Halligan, pastor of the church, with Mrs. Beverly Zeller, sister of the groom, as matron of honor, and Mr. Raub Zeller as best man. After the ceremony, which was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Glen Marney and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Johnson, a breakfast was served at the home of the bride's parents.
Mrs. Ruth Martinek, aunt of the groom, took care of the guest book. Mrs. Virginia Johnson, sister of the bride, presided at the gift table.
The groom is a member of the United States Air Force and is stationed in Kansas City, Mo., at the present time. The couple will be at home in Kansas City.

| Obituary- Marney, Dean MARNEY, DEAN M.
Dean Marney passed away early on the morning of November 28, 2008, at his son's home in Bonner Springs, KS. He was a devout family man who cherished the times he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. Dean, son of the late Glen and Ina Marney, was born near Rossville, KS, on January 2, 1931, and spent most of his childhood years in Rossville. After attending Rossville High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force at age 17. Dean proudly served his country for 20 years, during which time he met Nancy Johnson, who would become his wife of nearly 49 years. After retiring from the Air Force in 1969, Dean and Nancy moved to Kansas City, MO., where they have resided for the past 40 years. Dean worked at General Motors until his retirement 25 years later. Dean and Nancy spent the last 10 winters in their second home just outside Phoenix, Ariz. Dean spent his retirement years pursuing a variety of interests, including fishing on the Missouri River, prospecting for gold and collecting rocks. He was a member of the Missouri River Boating Association and various prospecting groups. Dean loved cooking and get-togethers with family and friends and was a prolific family photographer. He left behind many memories of his life in pictures and mementoes.
Dean is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Kansas City, Mo.; a son, Bill Marney and his wife Dina of Bonner Springs, KS.; a daughter, Anne Williams and her husband Steve of Lee's Summit, MO.; and six grandchildren. Dean also leaves behind a brother, Ralph Marney and his wife Donna of Topeka, KS. Dean was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Dale, and a brother, Laiten Marney.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS., with burial to follow in the Leavenworth National Veteran's Administration Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS. The family will receive friends at the visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, December 2, 2008, at the funeral home.
