James Ivan Marney, Jr., 54, Kansas City, Mo., died Monday, July 24, 1978, at Lakeside Hospital in Kansas City.
He was born August 6, 1923, to James Ivan and Mamie R. Belcher Marney.
Mr. Marney was a credit manager at Unitog Company, Inc., Brookfield Division. He was previously employed by the Santa Fe Railroad in the General Offices at Topeka.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II; Jimmie Lillard Post #31, Rossville American Legion; Eagles #87, Wyandotte County; and Grandview Masonic Lodge 618.
Surviving him are his wife, Marian, of the home; two daughters, Karen Sleeth, Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Deborah Boydston, Nebraska City, Nebr.; two brothers, Ben O. Marney, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Robert H. Marney, Delia; one sister, Mrs. Eborah Hoeman, Topeka; his mother, Mrs. Mamie Marney, Rossville; and three grandsons.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at McGilley Chapel in Kansas City, Mo. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery in Kansas City.

KANSAS CITY — Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at McGillev Midtown Funeral Home here for James Ivan Marney Jr., 54, Kansas City, Mo ,a former Topekan, who died Monday in a hospital here. He had suffered a heart attack earlier this year.
He was born Aug. 6, 1923, in Topeka and formerly worked for Santa Fe Railway in Topeka 10 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Grandview Lodge No. 618, AF&AM, at Kansas City, Mo., Jimmy Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion in Rossville, and Eagles Lodge No. 87 in Kansas City, Kan.
He was married to the former Marian Belcher. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Karen Sleeth, Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Deborah Boydston, Nebraska City, Neb.; his mother, Mrs. Mamie Marney, Rossville; two brothers, Ben O. Marney, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Robert H. Marney, Delia; a sister, Mrs. Ebora Hoeman, Topeka; and three grandsons.
Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery in Kansas City. Relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
