Gladys Viola McDaniel
Gladys Viola McDaniel, daughter of George King and Cora Steel King was born May 29, 1894 at Troy Mills. Iowa. She departed this life on the 19th day of July, 1970 at the Holton hospital.
On April 10, 191S she was united in marriage to Clarence McDaniel of Delia. The couple resided in the Delia area until Mr. McDaniel’s death May 20. 1956. Shortly thereafter she moved to the Holton area where she has resided with her son since.
She was a member of the Mt. Olive Methodist Church. She was a Sunday School Superintendent and taught in the church school department here for several years. She was also a devoted mother over many years.
She is survived by one son, Warren King McDaniel of the home, one sister, Mrs. Mable Keller of Rossville, one sister-in-law, Mrs. Verda Bottom of Topeka, one brother-in-law, Mr. Olen McDaniel of Alma, Arkansas. Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were held at the Mercer Funeral home on July 21, 1970 at 2 p.m. Rev. Floyd Nolin officiated. Vocal music was furnished by Mrs. Joe Zlatnik and Mr. LaVerne Zlatnik. They were accompanied by Mrs. Dean Stous. Pallbearers were Lester Cooper, Fred Kruger, Howard Houck, Frank Carpenter, Oren Bond and Lynn Keller. Interment was in the Delia Cemetery.
