Robert Isaac McDaniel, 82, Topeka, died Thursday, September 4, 1986, at a Topeka hospital where he was admitted Tuesday.
Mr. McDaniel was a printer more than 37 years. He was superintendent of publications in the composing room of Capper’s Farmer, Household Magazine, Kansas Farmer and Missouri Ruralist, 17 years. He retired from Stauffer Publications July 1, 1967.
He was an active square dance caller more than 25 years and helped organize the Northeast Kansas Callers Association. He was president of Kansas State Callers Association and Northeast Kansas Square Dance Callers Association. He retired from square dance calling in May 1972.
He was born November 18, 1903 at Rossville, the son of William M. Mcfianiel, Sr. and Nora Wyatt McDaniel. He attended Silver Lake schools and spent most of his life in Topeka.
Mr. McDaniel was a member of Seaman Congregational United Church of Christ and Topeka Typographical Union and an honorary member of Northeast Kansas Square Dance Callers Association.
He was married to Mary Fae Luthye November 24, 1926, in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Larry N. McDaniel, Holden, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Berry, Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, William McDaniel, Jr., Silver Lake; and three grandchildren.
Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at Seaman Congregational United Church of Christ. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Relatives and friends met from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. Friday at Parker-Price Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Seaman Congregational United Church of Christ, 2036 N.
