  Obituary- McGinnis, Mary Mary Catherine McGinnis Mary Catherine McGinnis, 81, of Topeka, passed away Sept. 20, 2008 at Midland Hospice House. She was born Aug. 8, 1927 in Elkins, West Virginia to Thomas William and Leona Mae (Rohrbaugh) Monahan. Mary married Claire L. McGinnis in 1952. He preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1978. She was also preceded in death by a brother Thomas F. Monahan. She worked many years in the restaurant industry. Mary is survived by 5 daughters, Edith L. Melville, Elizabeth City, NC; Susan Farmer, Jacksonville, IL; Colleen Neff, Roodhouse, IL; Carol Lewis, Bourbon, MO and Peggy Deghand, Topeka, KS; 3 sons, Michael W. McGinnis, Orrstown, PA; Thomas McGinnis and Peter McGinnis, Topeka, KS. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 brothers, Michael Monahan, Riverside, CA and Charles Patrick Monahan, San Diego, CA. Mary will lie in state after 2:00 p.m., Mon., Sept. 22, 2008 at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. that evening. Services will be 9:00 a.m., Tues., Sept. 23, 2008 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held 4:00 p.m. Tues. at the Esbon Cemetery in Esbon, KS.
