    Howard W. “Bill” McGrew

    Howard Wayne “Bill” McGrew, 65, Topeka, died Friday, April 3, 1992, at the Colmery- O’Neil V.A. Medical Center, Topeka.

    Mr. McGrew had worked 13 years for Shawnee County Public Works before he retired on May 27, 1988. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

    He was born on May 27, 1926, at White City, the son of William A. and Pearl Brooks McGrew. He was graduated in 1944 from Bucklin High School.

    Mr. McGrew was a member of the American Legion the past 46 years and a current member of Capitol Post No. 1, Topeka. He also was a member of Oakland Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 11236, Topeka.

    He was married to Rose M. Kamer on September 26, 1980. She survives.

    Other survivors include a daughter, Marca J. Houser, Riverside, Calif.; five sons, Marty J. McGrew, Oakland, Calif., Steven J. Barnes and James M. Barnes, both of Milford, David B. Barnes, Liberty, Mo., and John L. Barnes, Marysville, Calif.; his mother, Pearl McGrew, Rossville; and eight grandchildren.

    Services were 2 p.m. Monday at Parker-Price Mortuary. Military graveside honors were conducted in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Topeka.
