| Obituary- McGuire, Robert d. 1922 Robert McGuire
Mr. Robert McGuire was born near Smith Cross Roads, Ray County, Tennessee, on May 22, 1853, and died Monday evening, Feb. 20, 1922, at 8 o'clock, at his home in Belvue, Kans., after a long illness.
Mr. McGuire was reared to manhood at Smith Cross Roads and at the age of 18 he came with his parents to Rossville, Kansas, where he made his home for many years, until going to Belvue.
Mr. McGuire was united in marriage to Miss Eleanor Navarre of Rossville on Oct. 4, 1886 at Westmoreland, Kans., who preceded him to the great beyond on March 21, 1916.
Mr. McGuire was a good, patient and industrious man, spending his whole life on a farm. He was a kind, good-hearted neighbor, always willing to help in time of need. He joined the Baptist church about 20 years ago and has always remained a member.
He leaves to mourn his death nine children: James, Henry, Joe, Charley, Robert, May, Louis, Minerva and Thomas also two brothers, James and Henry McGuire of Rossville, Kans. His children and brothers were with him almost constantly during his last illness, which was a great comfort to him. The funeral services were held at his home at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, by Rev. Janssen of St. Marys. His body was laid to rest beside his wife in the Rossville cemetery.
Rest, Peace be unto thee
A vacant spot you have left here
Our tho'ts shall often wander,
Father to you, up yonder.
