| Obituary- Albright, Gerald Albright
Gerald “Corky” Albright, 80, of Delia, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at his home.
He was born Jan. 4, 1942, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Jerry and Virginia Hartman Albright. He graduated from Hoyt High School in 1960 and received a bachelor’s degree in animal husbandry at Kansas State University, where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Corky had served in the Kansas Army National Guard.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church at Mayetta, the Marianist Lay Community at the church and a charter member of Mayetta Knights of Columbus Council 9535.
Corky was inducted as a Kansas Master Farmer, class of 2005, and had served on the Jackson County Soil Conservation Board for 21 years. He was also a member of the Kansas Livestock Association, served on the Farm Bureau Board, the Jackson County Livestock Association, the Kansas Animal Health Board and Kansas Farm Management, and he was a 4-H club leader for the Hoyt Livewires.
He married Jeri Morris on April 23, 1966, at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Manhattan. She survives of the home.
Corky was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Darrel Albright.
Other survivors include two sons, Martin Albright (Stephanie), Andover, and Scott Albright (Barb), Delia; two daughters, Amy Pruyser, Hoyt, and Kay Andler (Trent), Delia; two brothers, Bill Albirght, Topeka, and Steve Albright, Mayetta; two sisters, Debbie Simecka, Topeka, and Mary Jo Peterson, Ottawa; an aunt, Helen Eakes, Topeka; and nine grandchildren, Erica, Emily, Garrett, Brett, Karlie, Blake, Raegan, Harper, and Tate.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Private family burial will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery, north of Silver Lake. A rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt, followed by visitation until 8 p.m. Corky will lie in state after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
