| Obituary- Meade, Ulysses GRANT MEADE DIES
U. Grant Meade, 77, died Wednesday at his home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 pm at the Methodist Church with burial in the Rossville Cemetery. Hurley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
ULYSSES GRANT MEADE
Ulysses Grant Meade was born June 26, 1830, at Collins, Iowa. He passed away August 14, 1957, at his home in Rossville Kansas, at the age of 77 years, 1 month. 19 days.
Mr. Meade came to Kansas in a
covered wagon at the age of nine when his parents homesteaded at Osborne.
In 1908 he moved to the Willard community and it was there, in the next year, that he was married to Amy Ann Steffee. They were the parents of six children. One daughter, Helen Margaret, died in infancy. He was also preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Meade is survived by his widow, Amy, three sons: Franklin Henry, Charles Ulysses, and Grant Junior; two daughters: Etta Mae Richardson of Topeka and Opal Ellen Fueston of Huntington Park, California; eight grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Meade was a member of the Baptist Church at Osborne, Kansas.
He was a kind husband and father and loved his community.
