Mr. and Mrs. Henry P. Vowells announce the marriage of their daughter, Helen to Mr. Clarence W. Meyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Meyer, which took place at 8:30 o'clock, Monday morning, Sept. 25, in a double-ring ceremony at the Immaculate Conception Church at St. Marys, Kansas.
The Rev. Father John Berens read the ceremony. Mr. Harold Ryan vocalist, sang, "On This Day O Beautiful Mother," and "Ave Maria" accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Harold Ryan. Larry Joe Perry and Bernard Wensel were servers at the mass.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of eggshell satin styled with a fitted bodice, scalloped neckline, long tapering sleeves, and a full skirt extending into an aisle-wide train. Her shoulder length veil was held in place by a satin coronet and she carried a bouquet of white gladiolis.
Miss Anne Marie Scanlon, of Topeka, attended her cousin as maid of honor. She wore a dress of pale blue satin and lace, with a fitted bodice and a full skirt. Her veil was of pale blue bridal illusion. She carried a bouquet of pink gladiolis.
Mr. Charles Immenschuh, of Topeka, cousin of the groom, attended Mr. Meyer as best man.
A dinner was served at noon at the home of the bride's parents. The bride's table was centered with a 3-tier wedding cake, topped with a miniature bride and groom.
The dinner party included Father John Berens, Father Anthony Adams, the bride and groom, Mr. and Mrs. Henry P. Vowells, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Meyer, Miss Anne Marie Scanlon, Mr. Chas. Immenschuh, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vowells, Mrs. John Schoenmen and Dr. and Mrs. W.D. Tucker.
For traveling the bride wore a black green gabardine suit, dark green velvet hat and brown accessories.
After a short wedding trip, the couple will be at home on a farm near St. Marys.
The bride and groom are graduates of St. Marys High School. Mr. Meyer is a member of the St. Marys National Guard and will report for duty October 21.
Among those from out of town who attending the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vowells and Kathleen, Miss Lucille Schoemaker, of Kansas City, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Immenschuh, Mrs. Elmer Davis, Mrs. A.F. Heinish and Mrs. Gene Gillgannon, of Topeka. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Cowan, Mrs. Milton Perry and Mrs. Jack Gleason, of Rossville, Mr. and Mrs. Neal Balderson and Mrs. Robert Ince Jr., of Wamego.

ST. MARYS — Clarence W. "Bill" Meyer Jr., 64, St. Marys, died Monday, Jan. 24, 1994, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Meyer was a tire builder 28 years for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. of Topeka. He retired in 1983. He served with the 174th Military Police Battalion, Kansas National Guard, at St. Marys and was activated during the Korean War.
He was born Sept. 25, 1929, at Rossville, the son of Clarence W. Meyer Sr., and LaVerne Irene Tucker Meyer.
Mr. Meyer was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 657, was Cubmaster of Pack No. 128 from 1959 to 1961, and served on the St. Marys Planning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals, all in St. Marys. He also was a member of Jimmy Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion in Rossville.
He was married to Helen A. Vowells Sept. 25, 1950, at St. Marys. She
survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Helen Graham, St. Marys, and Jeannie Johnson, Olsburg; a son, Cliff Meyer, Wamego; his mother, LaVerne Irene Meyer, St. Marys; and six grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys. Mr. Meyer will lie in state after 1 p.m. today at Veschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Hospital Third Floor Oncology Unit or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
