SILVER LAKE — Stanley Morris Mitchell, 70, Silver Lake, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 1995, at an Onaga hospital.
Mr. Mitchell was a farmer. He served in the Army's Engineer Corps during World War II and served two years overseas.
He was born March 30, 1925, at Topeka, the son of Laurence S. and Helen P. Hennessey Mitchell. He grew up in the Rossville and St. Marys area and graduated from St. Marys High School. He had lived in Seattle before moving to Silver Lake.
He was a member of Silver Lake United Methodist Church; Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion, Rossville; Philip Billard Post No. 1650 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at Topeka; and was a former member of the Moose Lodge No. 555 at Topeka.
He married Betty J. Heim on Jan. 1, 1948, at Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Judge Daniel L. Mitchell and Michael M. Mitchell, both of Silver Lake; and t four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Parker-Price Mortuary. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Silver Lake Cemetery. Mr. Mitchell will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may the made to Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders, Topeka chapter; Silver Lake United Methodist Church; or Silver Lake Senior Citizens.

Stanley Morris Mitchell, 70,
Silver Lake, died Sunday, November 5, 1995, at Community Hospital, Onaga. He was born March 30, 1925, at Topeka, the son of Laurence S. and Helen P. Hennessey Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell lived in the Rossville and St. Marys communities while growing up and graduated from St. Marys High School.
Mr. Mitchell was a farmer and had served in the Engineer Corps of the U.S. Army during World War II. He served two years overseas.
He was baptized in the Silver Lake United Methodist Church. He was a life member of Jimmie Lillard Post #31 of the American Legion at Rossville, a member of the Philip Billard Post #1650, Veterans of Foreign Wars at Topeka, and a former member of the Moose Lodge #555 at Topeka.
Mr. Mitchell had lived in Seattle, Wash. before moving to Silver Lake.
He was married to Betty J. Heim January 1, 1948, at Topeka. She survives.
Also surviving him are two sons, Judge Daniel L. Mitchell and Michael M. Mitchell, both of Silver Lake; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Mitchell’s funeral service was at 11:00 this morning (Tuesday) at Parker-Price Mortuary. Military graveside honors were conducted by Jimmie Lillard Post #31 of the American Legion at Silver Lake Cemetery.
