| Obituary- Leeper, Lawrence LAWRENCE O. LEEPER
Lawrence O. Leeper, 57, Great Bend, died Tuesday, December 26,1978, after an extended illness. He was born April 17, 1921, at Langley, Ks., moving to
Maple Hill with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Leeper, in 1928, where he spent his grade and high school years.
He moved to the Great Bend area to
work in the oil fields as a truck driver.
He served in World War II as Staff
Sergeant and was commissioned Permanent Personnel Officer at Ft. Leavenworth, later joining the Army Medics serving within the States. He served as Post Commander at V.F.W. Post 5657 at Ellenwood, and returned to work in the oil fields.
Survivors include seven children, Mary Leeper, Nancy Leeper, William Leeper, Stephen Leeper, Mrs. Luicanne Christiansen, of Great Bend, Laurence Michael Leeper, Pueblo, Colo., Paul A. Leeper, Topeka; two brothers, Elmer Leeper, Holyrood, and George W. Leeper, Ellenwood; six sisters, Geneva Rathbun and Mildred Lemon, Ellenwood, Betty Scheufler and Mabel Herl, Great Bend, Gladys Lee, Clairmore, Okla., and Irene Hoobler, Maple Hill; and three grandchildren.
Services were held at Fryberger Mortuary in Great Bend on Friday, December 29, at 10 a.m. The Reverend Eugene Tollefson was the officiating minister.
Casket bearers were Harold Hoobler, Fred Behrens, Richard Moos, Joe Herl, David Scheufler and Jon Herl. Graveside services were by the V.F.W. Post 5657, Ellenwood. Interment was in Lakin-Comanche Cemetery, Ellenwood.
