| Marriage- Lee, Anna-Lemon, Cecil Married
Mr. Cecil Lemon and Miss Anna Lee were united in marriage by the probate judge in his office at Topeka Wednesday morning. Both are popular young people living a few miles northwest of town--the groom a son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Lemon and the bride has made her home for several years past with her uncle, Mr. Kennett.

| Anniversary- Lemon, Cecil and Anna Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Lemon were pleasantly surprised last Sunday at the home of his mother, Mrs. Charley Lemon, where relatives gathered to help them celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. A covered dish luncheon was served cafeteria style. Mr. and Mrs. Lemon were presented with two sets of silver ware. The following relatives and friends were present: Mr. and Mrs. James Lee and sons, of Axtel, Ks., Mr. and Mrs. John Lee and sons of Vermilon; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Holder and children of Soldier; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lee and family of Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Troy Lemon. | Obituary- Lemon, Cecil Cecil Lemon Dies In Auto-Truck Crash
Cecil Lemon of this city was killed after a collision at 6:20 Saturday, morning at the intersection of the lower Silver Lake road and the “Peonia Farm” road 1-2 mile south of Highway 40. He died two hours later at the hospital.
Six other persons were injured including, three in the truck bearing Lemon to an alfalfa field west of North Topeka, and three occupying the car which crashed into the truck.
The persons injured included: Louis J. Lannan 28, of 608 Jewell; Betty Louise Claborn. 22, of 522 Fillmore; Dennis Glotzback, 18 of 311 Ellwood; H. L. Miller, 69, of Rossville; Henry Martinek, 43, of Rossville; and Robert Viergever 18, of Willard.
The latter is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Viergever of Willard. He suffered a compound fracture of the left leg. He was returned home Tuesday.
Mr. Miller was also severely injured and grave doubts were entertained early in the week for his recovery. However he was taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Bolin at St. Marys, Wednesday.
Mr. Martinek, who was driving the truck was able to return home Sunday
Lannan was the driver of the car causing the wreck.
The circumstance has caused the authorities to announce an inquest will be held late this week.
Funeral services for Mr. Lemon were held Wednesday morning at the Christian church, conducted by the pastor, Orel Newbrey. It was one of the most largely attended funerals ever seen in this community.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Alice Boyd, Mrs. Lorene Harth, with Mrs. Maxine Trimble as accompanist.
The pallbearers were Messrs. H. H. Davis, Lawrence Ketter, Ivan Marney, Martin Whearty, Fred McCollough and Ray Parr.
Cecil Calvert Lemon was born Jan. 30, 1889 in Rossville community and passed away June 26th, 1948 at the
age of 50 years, 5 months and 26 days. He was the son of Mrs. Alice Lemon and the late Charles G. Lemon of Route One and had spent his entire life in the Rossville community. At the time of his death he was employed by the Raw Dehydrating Co., at their Rossville plant.
He was united in marriage to Anna E. Lee, May 25th, 1910. To this union eight children were born.
He is survived by his wife, Anna E. Lemon of the home; four sons, Harold C., Clyde E., and Donald L., all of Topeka, and Virvil L., of Tilton Wash.; four daughters, Mrs. Alice Farley and Mrs. Dorothy Kovar, of Rossville; Mrs. Thelma Carrell of Manhattan, and Mrs. Anita VandeVelde of Emmett; his mother, Mrs. Alice Lemon, Route One, a brother, Troy L. of St. Marys; two sisters, Mrs. Alverta Carrell of Route One and Mrs. Edna Wade of Silver Lake; 12 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
